A church in Estonia

On December 30, 2023, the Jõgeva church building was opened. The church with its futuristic appearance is forward-looking.

There is a spacious church hall, which is white from bright spotlights, as well as from the architectural solution of the interior design. Light wood, white color and extensive glass surfaces are used as materials. Large windows create an effective impression of the interior and exterior becoming one. In this way, walls without paintings do not look empty.

Glassense delivered about 370 square meters of glass to this project.

To achieve the best thermal insulation for the big glass façade Saint-Gobain’s Planitherm ONE glass was used. Planitherm ONE gives a nice reflection and slightly lowers the solar radiation (lower costs for cooling during summer).

The façade looks great with the shaped glasses fitting perfectly with the curved shape of the roof. Personal safety is secured with tempered and laminated glasses.

From the top of the six-platform tower, you can enjoy an unobstructed view of the surroundings.

Many of the tower’s hundred steps are marked with the donator’s name. The remaining steps are still waiting for a name plate, calling for a donation for Jõgeva Church.

For a long time, Jõgeva was known as the only county center town in Estonia without a church, but now it has changed. It may be told that on December 30, a dream from 90 years ago came true.

Built around an old water tower, the church looks more like a cultural or leisure center than a sanctuary. There is a concert hall, a tower with a balcony and an observation deck. Benches for outdoor concerts are arranged like an amphitheater in the yard. Outside there is an outdoor gym and a playground.

The only thing that betrays the fact that it is a church is the old water tower converted into a church tower, with a white cross shining on its top. Even before construction, the building was called a church-family center, now it is called Home of fine arts (Kaunite Kunstide Kodu).
